Excel Spreadsheet Intro
Save these in a NEW WORKBOOK Titled "Excel Intro"
Excel has many functions
- Data Storage
- Data Sorting
- Mathmatical calculations
- Converting information into pie, line, bar, or other graphic images.
We will start by looking at basic functions and formats.
Start by duplicating the information in each cell for Row 1, and Row 2.
The location of each black box is where a variable is entered.
Each cell where there is a 0 is the location of a formula of which there are 4. The formula is the mathmatical function in the equation before it. Example: Cell D3 is the mathmatical function of A3 X C3 also known as the product. There are 4 mathmatical functions. Each function deals with two numbers, (Cells) and a process.
Enter the correct formulas in the correct cells in the formula bar.
- D3 =(A3*C3) This will multiply cell A3 times C3
- G3 =(D3+F3) This will add cell D3 plus cell F3
- J3 =(G3-I3) This will subtrace cell G3 from cell I3
- M3 =(J3/L3) This will divide cell J3 from L3
To see if you are correct enter 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in all of the variable locations. Check with the instructor to see if your answer, therefore your equations are correct.
This tab needs to be titled "Formula" in this workbook.
On a second tab titled "Variables" we are going to create a variables chart that links to the formula tab. In this worksheet we are going to link to the "Formula" sheet so that information entered on this chart will automatically fill in the formula page, and display the answer from the formula page. There are 4 mathmatical functions. Each function deals with two numbers, (Cells) and a process.
Enter the correct formulas in the correct cells in the formula bar.
- Row 1 will label the categories.
- A1, B1, C1, D1 and E1,will contain the label "Variable" turned 90o
- F1 contains the label "Results" also turned 90o
- Row 2 will be blank.
- Row 3, below each "Variable" heading and under the "Results" heading you need to outline a box which is where the variable will go.
- On the "Formula" tab you need to reference the location designated for each variable:
- A3 =VariablesA3
- C3 =VariablesB3
- F3 =VariablesC3
- I3 =VariablesD3
- L3 =VariablesE3
- On the "Variable" tab you need to reference the location designated for Results:
- F3=FormulaM3
