The Melon Tutorial - Two part assignment
Working With Selections Tools in Adobe Photoshop Elements

You will be following along with an Adobe Photoshop tutorial taking small images of fruit and creating Chef Melonhead shown above. When you have completed creating Chef Melonhead, you will then create your own head made of fruits. Both images will be then placed on your worklinks.

**Note** I realize many of you may have done this before in middle school or last year - if that is the case then yours should be done extra well! This is a great refresher tutorial.

We are starting with this activity in order to get a grasp of how to manipulate images (which we will do with your pictures shortly.

In order to do this assignment - you should open (and keep open) the following programs:
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements
  • Macromedia Dreamweaver MX (Open your worklinks)
  • The Internet

What to do now:

  • Open the tutorial here - Melonhead
    • Note - You need this open to follow the instructions
    • As with most things in life, there are a few slight variations from the tutorial - like in life, roll with it
  • Right click on the image of the fruit below-save to your U drive in your week 1 folder as fruits

Follow the instructions - try to figure out what the tutorial is asking> if your brain fails you, ask at least 2 people for help before shooting up your hand

Assignment:

  • Part 1 - Complete the tutorial - Save your completed melonhead on today's date on your Daily Log and Worklinks as: melonhead
    • When you save>file>SAVE FOR WEB
  • Part 2 - When you finish the tutorial, you may play around with the fruit (appropriately of course) and create your own melonhead - save this on your Daily Log and Worklinks as my_melonhead
    • When you save>file>SAVE FOR WEB
