The Graphic Resume

The graphic resume puts a diffrent spin on a traditional resume. It's more visual and eye-catching than a traditional resume. While a graphic resume may not be appropriate for a traditional place of employment, it's definitely one gaining in popularity in the graphic design realm, marketing circles, and even entry-level job positions in customer service.

Content Guidelines

You must include the following (note: these are the same sections from your regular resume):

  1. A pic of you but it may be modified to be a graphic version, i.e., pop art, colored pencil filter, etc.
  2. Your name – address – contact info
  3. Profile
  4. Education
  5. Work Experience
  6. Activities and Community Involvement
  7. Computer Skills
  8. References (3 min)
  9. Graphics

Design Parameters

  1. Photoshop or Illustrator – Save as > PDF
  2. 8.5 inches x 11 inches – 300 resolution
  3. 1/4" bleed all the way around
  4. BE CONSISTENT – this means:
    • Color Scheme
    • Font Size
    • Graphics
    • Spacing
  5. Use a stroke around text where appropriate
  6. Drop shadows add a 3d element
